The I-REC Standard Foundation is pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Terrametric Solutions. This is the culmination of nine months of development on a Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Attribute Tracking Certificate system called C-Capsule, which allows consumers to mitigate emissions while providing a revenue stream for CDR activity.
Currently, the CDR market is in its infancy and industrial-scale CDR processes require revenue streams to accelerate their growth. But at the same time, end-users (consumers) are looking for ways to mitigate hard-to-abate emissions from within their supply chain.
C-Capsules are generated when a CDR facility captures and durably sequesters a net ton of CO2. These can then be traded and ultimately retired by a consumer allowing them to mitigate emissions. C-Capsule’s adherence to the I-REC Standard’s International Attribute Tracking Standard allows consumers to be confident that they are receiving science-based, independently verified, durable, and measurable CDR certificates.
Accreditation by the I-REC Standard Foundation will ensure that all stakeholders can be assured of a robust and reliable certification system to enable a net-zero emissions future.
