Temporary suspension of issuance for 20 IPPs in Indonesia

*Since the date of this news item’s publication, the organization ‘The International REC Standard Foundation’ has changed to ‘The International Tracking Standard Foundation: Founder of I-REC (I-TRACK Foundation).’

Due to recent announcements made by the vertically integrated utility in Indonesia (PLN), the I-REC Standard Foundation is taking the following proactive steps to avoid risks and ensure the integrity of certificate issuance in the country of Indonesia:

  • Temporarily pause in the issuance of I-REC(E) in Indonesia, only for projects that meet the following two criteria (1) are selling electricity to PLN, and (2) are owned by the 20 IPPs to which the PLN letter from 2 August 2022 is directly addressed. The issuance suspension for these projects will subsequently be referred to as a “pause in issuance.”
  • The pause in issuance will remain in effect for a 1-month period (from 15 August until 16 September 2022) as the I-REC Standard Foundation gathers information about the requirements of the national authority (court, or ministry- and regulator-level government entity); or until a national authority instructs the I-REC Standard Foundation to do otherwise.
  • Extend the Residual Mix Deadline by a 2-month period (to 30 November 2022), but only for projects that have been directly affected by the pause in issuance as described above.
  • Share updates on the situation as soon as they become available to the I-REC Standard Foundation, with the next update anticipated on 15 September 2022.

Further information will be shared on our website as the I-REC Standard Foundation receives additional information and updates become available to the public. For any questions, please feel free to contact the I-REC Standard Foundation secretariat at secretariat@irecstandard.org.
