Michael Tsang is the Founder and CEO of Three Pillars Consulting, a sustainability consulting firm based in Muscat, Oman, where he drives the company’s mission and leads strategic initiatives in carbon accounting, life-cycle assessment, decarbonization, and sustainability reporting. Three Pillars Consulting is the local accredited issuer of I-REC Certificates in Oman.

Michael is also the founder of ClimateTab™ (a Three Pillars Consulting product), a cloud-based, Software-as-a-Service carbon management platform. He serves as Chief Carbon Officer at Avance Labs, based in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), UAE, and is co-founder and shareholder of GEN Zero MENA, an energy efficiency and energy management company operating across the GCC.

With over 15 years of experience in sustainability consulting and environmental management, Michael has developed and overseen the delivery of solutions for leading corporations and government agencies across North America and the Middle East — including automated tools for carbon accounting, environmental product declarations, corporate decarbonization frameworks, and government energy efficiency policy. His current work focuses on building software and systems that strengthen corporate and product-level carbon accounting, as well as proprietary emissions datasets for the energy, heavy industry, and logistics sectors.

Michael holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry from the University of Bordeaux (with joint research at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Ca’ Foscari University in Venice), a Master of Public Health (Environmental Sciences and Toxicology) from UCLA, and a B.S. in Biology from UCSD. Prior to founding Three Pillars Consulting, he was awarded an ASPPH Fellowship with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and worked as a contracting consultant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, focusing on life-cycle assessments for emerging technologies such as nanomaterials and biofuels.
