The outbreak of the virus that causes COVID-19, and the relating measures put in place to contain the outbreak by various governments, have resulted in significant constraints on many I-REC Registrants, Participants and Issuers. I-REC Services B.V. requested that the International REC Standard Foundation Board acknowledge these unique circumstances as a force majeure event and take action to mitigate the impact on the market. As a result the following actions will be taken:
- The Residual Mix Deadline (RMD) will be extended from May 15th to August 15th. This means that production from 2019 can still receive an I-REC until August 15th 2020, a three-month extension. This has been requested to ease the difficulties with 2019 production data collection and to support issuers in some additional flexibility as to the deadline.
- The RMD of August 15th will be reviewed by the Board of the Foundation no later than June 26th. At that time a decision will be made if the provision will be extended beyond August 15th.
- Where there have been difficulties in obtaining necessary evidence or documents, Production Device registrations and Issue Requests may continue to be accepted for dates on or after 1 January 2019.
