*Since the date of this news item’s publication, the organization ‘The International REC Standard Foundation’ has changed to ‘The International Tracking Standard Foundation: Founder of I-REC (I-TRACK Foundation).’
The I-REC Standard Foundation is pleased to announce its participation in the MENA Climate Week 2023 hosted by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh from 8-12 October 2023.
The I-REC Standard will be represented by Regional Director, Oleg Dobrovolsky. Oleg will be speaking about the role of the EACs and the ongoing cooperation between the Designated National Authority and the I-REC Standard Foundation during the session, ‘Mobilizing climate action through Saudi Arabia’s Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Crediting & Offsetting Mechanism (GCOM)’ from 09:30 – 10:30 on 9 October 2023. This session “introduces a dynamic new mechanism tailored to navigate the region’s unique challenges. GCOM aims to increase cooperation among national entities to mobilize finance across all sectors for a variety of project activities that achieve emission reductions and removals, thereby contributing to the Kingdom’s NDCs and other national climate goals. The Mechanism’s efforts go beyond climate action to drive positive social, environmental, and economic impacts.”
