On 19 December 2024, a press release was published by an online news source in China highlighting a meeting between the I-TRACK Foundation’s Board member, Jules Chuang, and Xin Baoan, the Chairman of the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization and Chairman of the China Electricity Council, as well as the Heads of the Cooperation Bureau and the Development Bureau at the Beijing headquarters ‘to exchange in-depth views on promoting green energy transformation and promoting international cooperation on green certificates.’
In the article, Xin Baoan introduced the basic state of the Global Energy Internet “China Initiative.”
‘China attaches great importance to the important role of green certificates in promoting low-carbon development and has successively issued a series of policies to gradually optimize and improve the regulations on green certificate issuance, trading, transfer, and cancellation.’
From there, Jules Chuang elaborated that the work and achievements of the cooperating organizations are encouraging and expanded on the I-TRACK Foundation’s positioning.
‘The Global Energy Internet can effectively enhance the resilience of the energy systems and provide a feasible solution for promoting clean and green transformation. China’s green certificate mechanism has gradually matured, with a considerable number of issuances and transactions. The I-TRACK Foundation is willing to deepen cooperation with the cooperating organizations in green electricity green certificates, carbon footprint, carbon market, etc., give full play to their respective advantages, and jointly promote global energy and power interconnection and green transformation.’
This press release highlighted the I-TRACK Foundation’s standing as a global standardizing body for energy attribute tracking. ‘As the issuing agency of I-REC(E) and an important force in promoting global energy transformation, the I-TRACK Foundation is consistent with the goals and visions of the cooperating organization and highly consistent with the concept.’
The meeting is noted to have concluded with Cheng Zhiqiang and Jules Chuang detailing the next step of cooperation: establishing close cooperative relations, strengthening joint research, conducting conference activities, and jointly promoting international standards and mutual recognition of rules. ‘It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the future, learn from each other, explore opportunities, open up markets, and achieve common development.’
