*Since the date of this news item’s publication, the organization ‘The International REC Standard Foundation’ has changed to ‘The International Tracking Standard Foundation: Founder of I-REC (I-TRACK Foundation).’
The I-REC Standard Foundation will be joining REM 2022: Renewable Energy Markets event from 14 to 16 September 2022 in Minneapolis. Jos Tuinenburg, Senior Consultant, will represent the I-REC Standard on day 2 during the session Cross-Border Trading of EACs and Evolving International Market Boundaries, Track International Markets from 16.00 – 17.00.
Renewable energy commitments continue to grow in many regions based largely on demand from local and multinational corporations. This session will highlight discussions of cross border trading, revising market boundaries, future demand drivers, and other existing barriers to entry.
Jos is looking forward to sharing the I-REC Standard’s current approach in facilitating regional integration: He will cover the similarities and differences between integrated markets (like GOs in the EU) and non-integrated ones, address factors that could support the increasing regional EAC transactions that are in line with best practices, and disseminate how I-REC Standard Foundation is partnering with governments and development organizations to facilitate this. Jos will also explain the ambitions for supporting deeper inter-governmental integration, and how I-REC hopes to get there over the coming year.
