*Since the date of this news item’s publication, the organization ‘The International REC Standard Foundation’ has changed to ‘The International Tracking Standard Foundation: Founder of I-REC (I-TRACK Foundation).’
The first I-REC(E) device has been registered in Burkina Faso. The 135-acre (55-hectare) Zagtouli Power Plant (solar power plant) resides in the outskirts of the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. This is West Africa’s largest solar plant currently onstream with a confirmed installed capacity of 33.7 MW.
Burkina Faso was approved as an I-REC(E) issuance country by the International REC Standard Foundation Board in February 2021 with Green Certificate Company (GCC) acting as Issuer. Registrants have been required to register their devices with the Issuer, following the creation of the Local Working Instructions (LWI).
More general information on how production device owners or their representatives can register can be found on this page.
