COP28’s Chad’s National Development Plan – 2024-2028, panelists presented on energy transition. This panel highlighted how Chad could leverage renewable energy to achieve green, shared, sustainable, and distributed growth using instruments such as a renewable energy purchase obligation that incorporates reporting with I-REC, improving soil fertility, and storing durable carbon with C-Capsule. Representing the I-REC Standard Foundation, Regional Director of Africa, Enam Akoetey-Eyiah also highlighted the work that Energy Peace Partners is already doing in Chad with the issuance of peace renewable energy credits – P-RECs.
