I-TRACK Foundation welcomes Dr. Kae Takase as new Board Member

The I-TRACK Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kae Takase to its Board of Directors. Dr. Takase brings a distinguished career spanning corporate climate strategy, advanced energy system modelling, and high-level policy advisory roles in Japan and internationally. 

Dr. Takase joined the Renewable Energy Institute (REI) in 2023, where she contributes expertise on decarbonization pathways, renewable energy deployment, and corporate climate leadership. She serves on the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Technical Working Group and is a member of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net-Zero Standard Expert Working Group (CNZS EWG), helping to shape global standards for corporate climate action. 

In Japan, Dr. Takase plays an active role in public policy development through her service on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Environmental Council and the Advisory Board for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). 

Before joining REI, she served as Associate Director at CDP Worldwide–Japan, supporting companies and investors in setting science-based targets, expanding renewable electricity procurement under RE100, and strengthening TCFD-aligned climate disclosures. Her earlier career included modelling and analytical roles at the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan, the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth, and the Center for Low Carbon Society Strategy under the Japan Science and Technology Agency. 

Dr. Takase’s modelling expertise spans integrated assessment models, computable general equilibrium models, econometric models, energy system models, and detailed bottom-up analyses. She has also led municipal pilot programs deploying “Pay as You Save” mechanisms to accelerate rooftop solar adoption and energy efficiency upgrades. 

She holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from Keio University and a PhD from the University of Tokyo.
