Singapore Partners I-TRACK Foundation on Renewable Energy Certificate Framework Template for Cross-Border Electricity Trade

The I-TRACK Foundation has partnered with Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the Energy Market Authority (EMA) to develop a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) Framework to support Cross-Border Electricity Trade (CBET).

The framework aims to help countries establish consistent and credible systems for tracking renewable electricity traded across borders, ensuring that companies can make reliable claims on renewable energy use while avoiding double-counting.

This collaboration complements the development of the International CBET Standard and Best Practices, also led by the I-TRACK Foundation, which sets out requirements for credible REC transactions between national grids. Together, these initiatives will strengthen regional energy cooperation, unlock investment in renewable projects, and advance ASEAN’s clean energy transition.

The announcement was made during the Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES), part of Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2025, by Minister of State Gan Siow Huang.
