The I-TRACK Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ibukun Adebayo to its Board of Directors. With nearly three decades of experience in global finance, sustainable investment, and capital markets development, Ibukun brings a powerful combination of strategic insight and deep engagement across emerging markets: expertise that will greatly support the I-TRACK Foundation’s mission to deliver robust, transparent, and globally harmonised attribute market standards.
Ibukun is the Co-Founder and Director of Restitution Capital, a UK-based impact-focused claims developer and litigation fund that partners exclusively with sovereign governments to structure and finance investable legal claims. He also leads Lagos Carbon, Africa’s first domestic Environmental Market Infrastructure, contributing to the continent’s growing ecosystem of climate and sustainability-focused financial tools.
During his 18 years at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Ibukun served on the Divisional Executive Committee and held several senior leadership roles, including Global Head of Sustainable Finance and Investment Strategy, Head of Emerging Markets Strategy, and Head of International Primary Markets. He played a pivotal role in advancing the development of African capital markets, establishing the LSEG Africa Advisory Group, and spearheading initiatives to expand access to sustainable finance.
Ibukun has been instrumental in driving sustainability and climate-finance innovations across Africa. His work includes leading LSEG’s Sustainable Finance Initiative (SFI) for Africa, championing the adoption of sustainability reporting, and forging collaborations with the IFC, African Development Bank, and other international finance institutions. These initiatives helped mobilize more than USD 3 billion in capital for GHG-reducing projects across the region. He also contributed to structuring new local-currency debt products listed in London and led transactions that raised over USD 100 billion for governments and corporates in emerging markets.
Before his time at LSEG, Ibukun worked as an FX trader at NatWest Markets and Citi, specialising in major-currency spot and cross-rate trading.
The I-TRACK Foundation is honoured to welcome Ibukun Adebayo to the Board. His experience in sustainable finance, capital markets innovation, and emerging market development will play a crucial role as the I-TRACK Foundation continues to strengthen and standardize global energy attribute markets and support a robust, transparent, and scalable transition to renewable energy globally.
