The I-TRACK Foundation is pleased to announce that Dr. Casper Van der Tak has joined our Board of Directors. Dr. van der Tak brings over 25 years of global experience at the intersection of climate policy, project development, and sustainable finance, which will significantly strengthen the Foundation’s strategic direction as we continue advancing high-integrity global attribute markets.
An economist by training, Dr. van der Tak holds a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where his research bridged environmental and development economics. Throughout his career, he has worked across the climate and energy landscape, spanning renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, and forestry. His professional background includes roles as a consultant, project developer, and financial expert, giving him a rare combination of technical, policy, and investment insight.
For the past two decades, Dr. van der Tak has operated his own companies, where he has developed greenhouse gas mitigation projects resulting in more than 10 million tCO₂e in annual emission reductions, encompassing approximately 160 CDM projects. He has advised governments on climate change policy, across both mitigation and adaptation, and supported low-carbon companies with financing strategies and access to capital. His work has included preparing funding proposals for multilateral development banks and climate finance institutions.
Notably, Dr. van der Tak has secured more than USD 300 million in funding from the Green Climate Fund for two large-scale mitigation projects. These initiatives are expected to reduce over 100 million tCO₂ during their operational lifetimes—equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 10 million people in OECD countries.
His client portfolio spans major energy companies, commodity traders, national governments, and leading international institutions, including the European Commission, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, UNDP, UNIDO, and the World Bank.
